Matlock Town Reserves 3 Hucknall Town 2
The young lads of Matlock put a severe dent in Hucknal Towns title bid this afternoon. Town started off quite brightly but the warning signs were there when the home side struck the bar with a long range effort the rebound falling to a Matlock player who should have put the home side ahead. Whilst the home side were quick to the ball Hucknall didn't help themselves by giving the ball away needlessly and they were made to pay as Matlock opened the scoring. This woke town up a little and Devante ReittIe was sent clear on goal only to be pulled up by a raised flag. Two minutes later and almost a repeat move saw Reittie equalise for the Yellows beating the full back for pace and reaching the ball just before the keeper to poke the ball home. Hucknall barely had time to celebrate the goal before finding themselves behind once more. An awful goal to give away as the keeper came out of the area to clear only succeeded in hitting the oncoming striker the ball falling nicely for a Matlock player to slot home. If Matlock had put their chances away the game would have been over by halftime but town vwery nearly levelled just before half time when Mitch Slawsons long range effort came back off the bar.
Hucknall came out for the second half more determined and played some decent stuff but Matlock looked dangerous everytime they broke forward. as the half wore Hucknall began to make inroads and were rewarded with an equaliser with a debut goal from the new striker signed in midweek. He glanced a fine header home after an excellent cross. At this point the game could have gone either way but town were undone by a mixture of bad luck and a good finish. A good challenge from a  Yellows player cannoned off a Matlock player straight into the path of the Matlock striker who coolly slotted home.
Although Hucknall tried desperately for the equaliser it wouldn't come and the entire Matlock squad players and fans celebrated like they'd won the FA Cup at the final whistle. In truth they had benefited from a very lacklustre Hucknall display and  fully deserved the victory.

we're still yellow and we're still alive......
